This was my 2nd cruise and my husbands 7th on Carnival. Our flight got in around 10:30 and the Carnival Transportation crew was right there to bring us to the ship. Very easy. We got to the port around 12. Boarding was not as easy as it has been in the past. We waited around 1 ½ hours to get though security. Once though we had to check in with the kiosks. We were then on the boat by 2:15. Our room was ready by the time we got on board. Our cabin steward Edguardo was wonderful. Very friendly and everything we asked for was there for us
.First I will review the Ports
Cayman Islands: The island is beautiful. We did the Stingray excursion. So cool! It’s a must do.The stingrays come right up to you. The turtle farm was pretty nice. But anymore than a ½ is too much. We also went to Hell. If you go there make sure you bring your passport. They will stamp it for you so you can say you went to hell and back
.Isla Rotan-Mahagony Beach: We just went to the beach that day. There is a ski lift that will bring you to the beach or you can walk 5 min there. It was very hot and humid that day. I ended up with a bit of heat stroke so I didn’t get to enjoy it as much as I could
Belize: We did the Zoo Tour- WE HATED IT! All the animals were hiding and we heard that it happens often. Not worth the $71 we paid for it
Cozumel: This was our favorite. We did the Dolphin Encounter. This was so much fun. It was something that my husband has always wanted to do and it was so worth the money we paid.
The cruise ship is pretty much set up like the rest of the Carnival ships so my husband and I had no problem navigating the ship
.Food- It seems like Carnival is skimping a little on the food. Breakfast wasn’t as good a previous cruises. The morning potatoes were always the same only they put different names to it. Sausages were always mixed with keilbasa or Italian sausages. For breakfast I just want breakfast sausages. Scrambled eggs were runny. They do have an omelet bar where you can also get fried eggs at- you just have to ask for it. We only ate 2 times in the dining room. We had anytime dining so we had different waiters each time. I really cant comment on them. The first time we ate there I had the lobster and my husband had the flat iron steak. It was both very good. The 2nd day I got the Salmon and my husband got the grilled chicken. The salmon was very fishy and I couldn’t eat it - the chicken was just ok. We ate the rest of the time at Rosies grill or just got sandwiches at the deli. We did notice that at dinner time Rosies and the dining room had pretty much the same menu. I had read about the fish and chips station on here and was looking forward to trying it. I found it tasteless and mushy. The burgers and burrito bar was very good for lunch. We always found something to eat but I think that isn’t as good as previously.
Entertainment- Goose and his crew were pretty good. But the complaint we have is that any of the shows that we wanted to go to were after 10 and since we had early excursions we didn’t want to stay up that late to see them. We did enjoy the Comedy Club- it is a nice addition to the entertainment. We also think that on port days there should be more to do during the day if you don’t want to get off the ship. We noticed there were no games or shows during the day.
Casino- We went to the casino most every night for a couple of hours. The poker machines were the tightest I have ever seen. I was loosing $20 in minutes. We ended up playing the penny machines and they weren’t too bad. At least we got some play for our money. When you hit 1,000 points on your card they automatically give you $10 cash back. When you hit 1500 point you get free drinks in the casino bar. You just have to go to the change station and let them know and the will give you a special card to show when you order your drinks.
Leaving the ship. We had to go through customs and had our customs slip all filled out and ready. We bought 2 of the 5 cartons of cigarettes and figured we will just pay the taxes on the excess we were allowed. (that is what I read on here that we can do) When we go to the customs officer he told us it wasn’t so. We were ONLY allowed 1 carton per person. I think since we looked like we really didn’t know this (which we didn’t) he let us go through with them.
All in all it wasn’t a bad cruise but it wasn’t one of our top cruises. We will still cruise carnival again.
